Magic Food Bus
Owned By Gary & Ashley
We’re Gary and Ashley—two chefs with a shared love of great food, big flavors, and creating joyful experiences. Our journey started in 2018 when we bought an old school bus from a Lafayette private school and spent 18 months turning it into a full-blown mobile kitchen. Fast-forward to June 2020, right in the heart of the pandemic, we hit the road and officially launched The Magic Food Bus. It began in neighborhood lots and local breweries, but thanks to word of mouth and a whole lot of hustle, we quickly grew into something bigger. By September 2021, we left our “safe” jobs behind to run the bus full-time—and we haven’t looked back since. Our food is playful, global, and chef-driven—designed to make you smile and maybe say, “Damn, that’s the best thing I’ve tasted all week.” But just as important to us as the food? The people. We believe in genuine hospitality, warm vibes, and creating the kind of experience that keeps folks coming back.
A little about us
Gary grew up in Michigan with hardworking parents who taught him discipline, grit, and the importance of doing things right. He trained at Johnson & Wales and honed his craft under a Culinary Olympian. Ashley, a Colorado native, was raised by a fiercely determined single mom who ran her own small business. She passed down her entrepreneurial spirit and love of food, which still fuels Ashley’s creativity in the kitchen today. With over 45 years of combined restaurant experience, we’re proud to say The Magic Food Bus is a true reflection of everything we love—hospitality, hustle, community, and amazing Food. And now? We’re incredibly excited to bring that same energy to Relish Food Hall//Pickleball, where we're launching our next chapter! Our menu will feature fresh smashburgers, crispy chicken, gyros, and rotating Italian and Mediterranean-inspired specials—made with local ingredients and lots of love. We’re also proud to offer thoughtful vegan options and a dedicated gluten-free zone, so everyone can enjoy something delicious and feel right at home. While the wheels might not be turning, everything you’ve come to love about the bus—our flavor-packed dishes, commitment to quality, and genuine customer care—will still be front and center. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new home and keep spreading the magic, one bite at a time.
